Evening!
Now here’s a weird one.
When I was growing up, The Bill used to be on the TV all the time. I didnt really pay much attention to it (its the kind of the thing that your other half watches whilst you wait to wrestle the remote away when the football is on, or lie their watching whilst in your pants on the sofa wishing there was more to life).
Ahem.
I was younger in those days and had issues :0
But not as many issues apparently as PC Reg Hollis, the clean cut PC walking the beat on TVs Sun Hill police station. Or was that Juliet Bravo – its late and I cant be arsed to check.
Anyway, the upshot is this. PC Hollis, who was played to the n’th degree by Jeff Stewart was the cheer leader facial and focal point of The Bill.
So when Jeff was ‘let go’ it was understandable that an actor who had played his character for 24 years – yes, 24 years – longer than that there internet! went a bit loopy.
He was replaced in 2008 and then went on a journey of self discovery, including slashing his wrists, trying to commit suicide and becoming a recluse. he also grew the most amazing beard. So amazing that it is surely the best beard ever this side of Kingdom Isambard Brunel (until I have that extra tough poop that means I have to strain that little extra).
You probably didnt need that little nugget (sorry) of information did you. I was just embellishing.
Anyway. The upshot was that Hollos went mental and then disppeared, save for very very very infrequent sightings of him in his new incarnation.
And what an incarnation. The new Hollis looks like a cross between The Dude from The Big Lebowski and a Japanese prisoner of war who had never realised tha the 2nd World War had finished 50 years previously and then stumbled, blinking into the sunlight, into society,
Anyway, what I am trying to say is that Jeff, has now become one of the coolest people ever.
Ever.
And on his own terms. Learned his lessons, and is probably still learning, but he looks comfortable in himself. So much so, that he actually appeared this year (well, late last year, but who’s counting) in a Miike Snow video.
Seriously, have a watch. He is *awesome in it* – almost to the point where you think he isnt acting, but is actually how he been over the last few years. And when he emerges from his flat with the beard, dressing gown and old skool headphones, who amongst us hadnt wished they could make that look so cool?
So, indulge me – watch this, and just revel in it. Its brilliant.
And then sign up to one of the casinos or some such shit on my page and spend loads of cash. its January. Times are tough!
